How much time?

To be successful in your search, you have to invest time. Devote 25-35 hours per week to your search. More than that and you risk burn out. Less and you won't be able to get on a roll. Searching is a matter of numbers. One out of four jobs are found through the direct method of job searching - applying to openings. Three out of four jobs are found through networking. Invest the same proportion between these two strategies, networking much more than applying online.

Searching also requires patience. Employers tell us that it takes 3-4 months from the time they place the ad till the employee is onboarded. Sometimes it may be as short as 6o days. Regardless, it takes time to get thoroughly prepared with a compelling resume and cover letter and to find openings with goodness of fit, so be patient, and invest in your weekly productivity.
