You can do things now as you work on projects in your current job to be ready for when you or your employer decide that it's time to move on.
When you are assigned a project, ask key questions to give you the background to use as a comparison for when you finish that project:
- Why are we doing this project?
- What is it currently costing us? (costs, time, resources, satisfaction, brand?)
- What do we want as an end result?
When you finish the project, gather the reverse information - how is it helping us? - so that you have those metrics.
Then send an email to your personal email account - date, company name, your title, detail the presenting problem, what actions you took, and the results you achieved. When you get home, print it out and put in your resume file, making it easier to find. When you're ready to update your resume, you'll have your accomplishments easily available to show off your brand.
